Step 7 – Recovered 1261

150 150 Mark S

Step Seven of AA’s Alcoholics Anonymous Twelve Step recovery program is about getting rid of character defects and replacing them by practicing humility and spiritual principles. Working on the seventh step requires frequent thoughtfulness and commitment to being honest, courageous, and humble.

We discovered our assets and shortcomings when working on steps four and five. With Step 7 we became prepared to deal with these qualities so that in Step 7 we could be ready to act.

The exact wording of step 7 is:

Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.

Tonight, we talk about Step 7

Step 6 – Recovered 1259

150 150 Mark S

Step Six of AA’s Alcoholics Anonymous Twelve Step program of recovery is all about the removal of what doesn’t work in our lives anymore. Since you have completed Step Four and Five you surely have plenty of things that were revealed to you about what you need to get rid of!

So now it’s time to allow a Higher Power to cut out these attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors at the source. You get to partner up with your Higher Power and make a firm decision to let go of the character defects and flaws that have been ruling your life and leading to self-destruction.

The exact wording of step 6 is:

Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.

Tonight, we talk about Step 6

Step 5 – Recovered 1257

150 150 Mark S

Step Five of AA’s Alcoholics Anonymous Twelve Step Program is essential to the fundamental change of personality required to overcome an alcohol or drug addiction. In its simplest form, the fifth step is basically a confession of personal wrongdoings and the beginnings of your spiritual housecleaning.

Although in step four we admitted the exact nature of our wrongs, the process of clearing away the wreckage of the past would not be completed until we have shared those wrongs with another person in step five. A well-chosen person to be part of this healing process helps us to become aware of our own self-delusion, where we have not been sincere, and where there are patterns of destructive thoughts and behaviors.

The exact wording of step 5 is:

We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs.

Tonight, we talk about Step 5

Step 4 – Recovered 1254

150 150 Mark S

Step Four of AA’s Twelve-Step Program of recovery is infamously the “scary” one, probably because it’s a crucial step towards effective and lasting recovery. Since the overall philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous is that alcoholism is just a symptom of a spiritual disease, the real problem is in character flaws that need to be faced and overcome. This requires an inventory that will become the blueprint for your success.

The exact wording of step 4 is:

Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves..

Tonight, we talk about Step 4
